New Delhi: The political tension in the national capital intensified after Arvind Kejriwal alleged that the city had been “ruined in just three months” under the BJP-led administration. In a sharp rebuttal, Delhi’s Urban Development Minister Ashish Sood dismissed the claims, asserting that no slum dwellings (jhuggis) are being demolished and accused Kejriwal of spreading misinformation for political mileage.
“Under the BJP government, I speak with full responsibility as the Urban Development Minister—I assure you that no 'jhuggi' will be demolished,” Sood said during a press interaction. His comments were in direct response to Kejriwal's criticism of ongoing civic actions in parts of the city, which the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) alleges are displacing economically weaker sections.
Sood further claimed that Kejriwal’s comments were deliberately misleading. “Arvind Kejriwal is spreading misinformation and misleading people purely for political gain,” he said, adding that the government’s focus remains on in-situ rehabilitation and upliftment of slum dwellers, not eviction.
