New Delhi: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu inaugurated the three-day Arunachal GI Mahotsav in Delhi, aiming to promote the state's unique Geographical Indication (GI) tagged products on a national platform. Speaking at the event, Khandu emphasized the importance of bringing Arunachal’s GI products to larger markets and increasing awareness about their cultural and economic significance.
Currently, 20 products from Arunachal Pradesh have received GI tags, recognizing their unique origin, quality, and traditional craftsmanship. The state government is actively working to expand this list, targeting an additional 30 products for GI certification in the near future.
Khandu stressed that such events help in boosting the local economy, providing artisans and farmers with better market opportunities while preserving traditional knowledge and heritage. The festival features handicrafts, textiles, agricultural products, and indigenous food items, allowing visitors to explore the rich cultural diversity of Arunachal Pradesh.
