Jammu & Kashmir: Amid the success of Operation Sindoor, a senior Indian Army officer has spotlighted the critical role played by the ‘Akashteer’ system, an indigenous command and control platform developed to enhance air defence coordination.
Speaking on ground in Jammu & Kashmir, the Indian Army Major revealed that the Akashteer system was pivotal in countering a wave of enemy drone incursions during the operation. “In our Operation Sindoor, Akashteer has played the most important role,” he said. “This is a centrally automated command and control system integrated with all air force and army radars.”
According to the officer, the system’s intelligence and precision allowed for real-time threat classification. “When a large number of enemy drones approached our locations, Akashteer immediately declared them hostile and assigned the nearest weapon systems to neutralize them. As a result, every drone was destroyed before it could pose a threat.”
Praising its effectiveness, he added, “It was 100% effective. We didn’t allow a single enemy objective to be fulfilled. Our mission was successful, and the enemy’s efforts were completely foiled.”
Highlighting India’s growing self-reliance in defense technology, the Major also emphasized the indigenous origin of the system. “This system is made in India. It is helping us immensely in destroying enemy drones and aircraft.”
