PATNA, BIHAR — BJP MP and former Union Minister Anurag Thakur on Tuesday accused the RJD and Congress of attempting to block financial assistance meant for women in Bihar, intensifying the political war of words ahead of the state assembly elections.
Speaking at a rally in Patna, Thakur said, “The people of Bihar need to be aware, the Lalu family has never done any good for women. Even today, RJD and Congress have requested the Election Commission to stop the NDA government which is giving ₹10,000 to 1.45 crore women.”
Thakur alleged that the move reflected the opposition’s disregard for women’s welfare. “This means they do not want women to get money,” he said. “Lalu Yadav’s party is doing this, and it is happening on the instructions of Tejashwi Yadav and at the behest of Rahul Gandhi.”
The BJP leader asserted that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, women’s empowerment has been a central focus of governance, citing welfare schemes and direct benefit transfers as examples of inclusive development.
Thakur urged voters to remain vigilant and not be “misled by parties that only care about power,” reiterating that the NDA’s initiatives were aimed at securing financial independence and dignity for women across Bihar.
