Chennai: Tamil Nadu BJP president K Annamalai has weighed in on the controversy surrounding Telugu actor Allu Arjun and the alleged ruckus near his residence. Addressing the media, Annamalai criticized Telangana Congress leader Revanth Reddy, accusing him of politicizing the situation and attempting to position himself as a “superstar” in the state’s political landscape.
"I think he (Revanth Reddy) is trying to compete regarding who is the superstar in Telangana, trying to show he is a bigger superstar than Allu Arjun,” Annamalai said.
Referring to the incident where stones were allegedly thrown at Allu Arjun’s residence, Annamalai claimed that 2-3 individuals involved were from Reddy’s own constituency, suggesting the actions were politically motivated.
“People who created the ruckus and threw stones, among them 2-3 people came from his (Revanth Reddy's) own constituency. Victimizing and bullying someone is wrong. Did Allu Arjun have an intention or motive that someone will die? It should not have happened, but victimizing and bullying are not right,” he added.
The controversy erupted after a tragic incident linked to a fan event for Allu Arjun, leading to heated political debates. While Annamalai defended the actor, he underscored that politicizing such incidents for personal gains was inappropriate.
Revanth Reddy, a prominent Congress leader in Telangana, is yet to respond to the allegations. The incident has sparked debates across the political and entertainment sectors, drawing public and media attention.
