In a heartfelt tribute to the late CPI(M) leader Sitaram Yechury, Congress leader Anand Sharma spoke about Yechury's ability to bring people together and his unwavering commitment to important causes. Speaking in Delhi, Sharma said, "He knew how to unite others and take everyone along. He even tried to build a consensus by sitting with his opponents."
Sharma also highlighted Yechury's international efforts, recalling their work on global movements such as the fight against apartheid in South Africa, the struggles for Namibia, Cuba, and Palestine. "We remained together for decades... I felt sad, this was not the time for Sitaram ji to leave. This was the time when we all needed him," said Sharma, emphasizing the profound impact of Yechury’s loss.
Yechury’s passing marks the end of an era in Indian politics, with leaders from across the spectrum mourning the loss of a key figure dedicated to progressive causes.
