Bhuj, Gujarat: Union Home Minister Amit Shah issued a strong statement on national security and the issue of illegal infiltration while addressing the 61st Foundation Day celebrations of the Border Security Force (BSF) on Friday. Speaking at the event, Shah asserted that preventing infiltration was crucial not only for safeguarding India’s borders but also for protecting the integrity of the country’s democratic processes.

He criticised what he described as political resistance to the Centre’s “ghuspaithiya hatao” (remove infiltrators) campaign and to the voter list purification exercise currently being undertaken by the Election Commission under the SIR procedure. “Preventing infiltration is not only necessary for the security of the country, but also essential to protect our democratic system from being corrupted,” Shah said.

He added that certain political parties were opposing these measures for reasons he termed “unfortunate,” and stressed that the government would continue its efforts undeterred. “I want to state very clearly today that we will identify and remove every single infiltrator from this country,” he said, reiterating the government’s firm stance on the issue.
