New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday chaired a high-level meeting to assess the nation's flood preparedness ahead of the monsoon season, reaffirming the Modi government’s commitment to a “zero-casualty” approach in disaster management. The meeting brought together top officials from disaster response agencies, meteorological departments, and other relevant ministries to review existing systems and strengthen coordination.

In a post shared on social media following the meeting, Shah wrote, “Chaired a high-level meeting to review the flood management preparations. The Modi government's zero-casualty approach to disaster management has today made us on par with the leading nations in meteorology.”

He emphasized the strategic importance of leveraging modern technology, particularly satellite-based systems, to enhance real-time monitoring and early warning mechanisms. “Directed to make maximum use of space technology and advisories of the NDMA for flood management,” Shah added.

Officials discussed region-specific preparedness plans, inter-agency coordination, stockpiling of relief materials, deployment readiness of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), and the role of state governments in executing rapid response protocols.
