Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday discussed the challenges faced in securing certain border areas of India, pointing out that fencing is not always feasible due to geographical constraints.
Speaking on the issue, Shah emphasized that identifying infiltrators in such regions falls under the responsibility of state governments and local authorities. “There are border areas where fencing is impossible due to geographical constraints. Identifying infiltrators in such areas is the responsibility of the state government and local authorities,” he said.
Shah also noted that some states tolerate the presence of infiltrators for political reasons. “Some states allow it because they see these infiltrators as a vote bank,” he added, highlighting the intersection of security concerns and political considerations in border management.
