Delhi | Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah on Monday lauded India’s cooperative success story, highlighting the global recognition earned by Amul and IFFCO at the International Conference of Urban Cooperative Credit Sector, ‘Co-Op Kumbh 2025.’
Extending his congratulations to both organizations, Shah said the International Cooperative Alliance’s latest rankings reflect the enduring strength and relevance of India’s cooperative model. “I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to two renowned cooperatives of our country, AMUL and IFFCO. The International Cooperative Alliance has placed Amul at the first position in the world rankings, and the second position has also been secured by India’s own cooperative IFFCO,” he said.
He emphasized that the concept of cooperatives remains as powerful and transformative as ever, particularly for rural India. Reflecting on his personal experiences, Shah said, “Since my childhood, I have seen the magical changes that the dairy sector has brought about for the village farmers and the poor, raising their standard of living. Today, Amul has become the mother of the White Revolution.”
Highlighting Amul’s vast reach, Shah noted that through its 36 lakh farmer members, 18,000 village committees, and 18 district unions, Amul now collects nearly 3 crore liters of milk every day across India.
