ANAND, GUJARAT — Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday addressed the groundbreaking ceremony of the upcoming Tribhuvan Cooperative University in Anand, Gujarat, using the platform to respond directly to criticism from Congress leaders over the university's name.

Recalling opposition raised during the legislative process, Shah said, “When I came with the Tribhuvan Cooperative University legislation, the Speaker called me to his chamber. Some Congress leaders were asking why the name was ‘Tribhuvan’. So I told him — I will answer this on stage.”

Clarifying the source of the name, Shah explained that the university is not named after a deity or any figure associated with the BJP. “Tribhuvan is not named after God. It is named after Tribhuvan Das Kashi Das Patel,” Shah stated emphatically. “What’s more surprising is that Congress leaders didn’t even know that Tribhuvan Das was one of their own — a Congress leader, not from my party.”
