New Delhi: Amid intense rainfall and flood-like conditions across several parts of the country, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday said he has spoken with the chief ministers of five severely affected states — Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, and Chhattisgarh — to review the situation and offer support.

Taking to social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Shah wrote, “In the wake of heavy rainfall in different parts of the nation, spoke with the Chief Ministers of Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, and Chhattisgarh. Adequate numbers of NDRF teams have been deployed in the states for the people in need, and more reinforcements can be sent as and when required.”

The Home Minister assured all five states of the central government’s full cooperation in managing the crisis. “Assured them of all possible assistance from the central government,” he added.

The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has already mobilized rescue and relief operations in several low-lying and landslide-prone areas. Contingency plans have been activated in coordination with state governments, and more teams are reportedly on standby for quick deployment.
