Thiruvananthapuram: Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched a sharp attack on Kerala’s major political alliances, the Left Democratic Front (LDF) and United Democratic Front (UDF), accusing both of a long-standing track record of corruption. Speaking during a public event in Thiruvananthapuram, Shah listed a series of alleged scams under their respective governments, asserting that the people of Kerala have been repeatedly betrayed.
“The track record of LDF and UDF has been that of a corrupt government,” Shah said. He claimed that various scams had taken place under their watch, including the AI camera scam, cooperative bank scam, Life Mission scam, PPE kit scam, and what he described as “India's biggest scam – state-sponsored gold smuggling.”
The gold smuggling case, which involved the alleged use of diplomatic baggage to bring gold into Kerala, drew national attention in 2020 and led to investigations by multiple central agencies. The LDF-led state government has consistently denied involvement, calling the allegations politically motivated.
