Mishra, who has written a monograph titled Echoes of Vedic Philosophy in the Poetry of President Michael D. Higgins, praised the Irish leader’s multifaceted scholarship and visionary political leadership. He also drew parallels between President Higgins’ emphasis on food security through traditional crop diversity and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s global millet initiative, recognized through the International Year of Millets 2023.
Highlighting cultural synergy, Ambassador Mishra recalled President Higgins’ pioneering role as Ireland’s first Minister of Culture in promoting the Irish language—now an official EU language—linking it to India’s efforts to strengthen its own linguistic heritage under the National Education Policy.
President Higgins, reflecting on shared philosophical values, underscored the importance of solidarity, inclusion, and the pursuit of knowledge. He conveyed his blessings to Ambassador Mishra and Mrs. Mishra, extending his goodwill to the people of India.
