Lucknow, July 22: Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav on Monday reacted to the resignation of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, expressing surprise at the lack of a formal farewell and suggesting concern for the outgoing official’s well-being.

Speaking to reporters, Yadav said, “BJP people should go to him and check up on his health. I am hearing that there is no farewell happening. At least if that was happening, we could have all gone to meet him and inquired about his health. He would have been honoured.”

The remarks come amid political speculation following Dhankhar’s unexpected resignation. As of now, no official reason has been publicly cited by either the Vice President’s office or the central government for his decision to step down.

Yadav’s statement, while framed as concern, also appeared to subtly question the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) handling of the situation. The absence of a ceremonial farewell—common in high-level constitutional transitions—has drawn attention from opposition leaders and observers.
