Patna: Congress MP Akhilesh Prasad Singh on Friday took a sharp dig at the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) over its ‘sankalp patra’ (manifesto) for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, alleging that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has been reduced to a mere figurehead in the coalition.
Speaking to reporters in Patna, Singh said the NDA’s approach clearly showed who holds the reins of power in the alliance. “They have made Nitish Kumar just a puppet. They want to sideline him. They are putting him in front only for votes — there is nothing else in it,” he said.
The Congress leader contrasted the NDA’s event with that of the opposition INDIA bloc, highlighting how leadership roles were portrayed differently. “In the INDIA bloc, our Chief Ministerial face spoke about our manifesto. Who spoke for them (NDA)? A BJP leader, the Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary. I have never seen such a press conference,” Singh remarked.
