Pune, Maharashtra, June 17 — Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar visited Pawana Hospital on Monday to meet and assess the condition of those injured in the Indrayani River bridge collapse that occurred in the region. The tragic incident saw 55 individuals fall into the river after the bridge suddenly gave way.

Authorities confirmed that 51 people were successfully rescued in a swift emergency response involving local administration, disaster response teams, and the police. Unfortunately, four lives were lost, and officials confirmed that the bodies have been identified and handed over to their families.

Speaking to reporters during his hospital visit, Deputy CM Ajit Pawar expressed deep sorrow over the incident and assured that the government would provide all necessary medical care and support to the victims. “All departments are working in coordination to ensure such incidents do not repeat. A structural audit of similar old bridges in the area will be conducted,” he said.
