New Delhi, June 11 — BJP leader Ajay Alok took aim at the Congress on Tuesday over its response to the tragic stampede at Bengaluru’s Chinnaswamy Stadium, where several lives were lost. He criticized Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge for rejecting calls demanding the resignation of Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM D.K. Shivakumar.
Speaking on the issue, Ajay Alok said, “Congress has a habit of making such statements. They are not sensitive. It’s not just about resignations, it’s about being sensitive and taking responsibility.”
Kharge had earlier dismissed the demand for top-level resignations, citing past incidents like the Kumbh Mela stampede in Uttar Pradesh, questioning whether CM Yogi Adityanath had resigned then. Alok responded sharply, arguing that pointing fingers at past tragedies does not excuse a lack of accountability in the present.
