Ahmedabad, June 17 — In the aftermath of the devastating Air India plane crash, Ahmedabad Civil Hospital Superintendent Dr. Rakesh Joshi provided a detailed update on the status of DNA identification, handing over of mortal remains, and treatment of the injured.

“As of 5:45 PM today, DNA samples of 163 deceased have matched successfully, and 124 bodies have already been handed over to their respective families,” said Dr. Joshi. He further informed that 21 more bodies will be handed over by tomorrow morning, while two more are in the process of being handed over shortly.

However, the process remains incomplete for a few cases. “Twelve families are still awaiting their DNA results,” Joshi noted. Additionally, handing over of four bodies is currently on hold due to certain legal issues that are being addressed.

On the day of the tragic crash, 71 injured individuals were brought to Ahmedabad Civil Hospital for treatment. “Out of them, 42 have been discharged, and nine are currently under treatment. Unfortunately, **two patients succumbed to their injuries after being admitted,” the hospital superintendent added.
