Mumbai, Maharashtra – AIMIM leader Waris Pathan has strongly criticized the suspension of SP MLA Abu Azmi from the Maharashtra Assembly’s Budget session, alleging that the move plays into the hands of the BJP and distracts from real public issues.
“The BJP knows that they have got their associate in the form of this MLA (Abu Azmi). They are aware that he will make statements, and he has now done their work,” said Pathan, suggesting that Azmi’s remarks served a political agenda rather than public interest.
He further accused the ruling government of ignoring voter concerns while engaging in political controversies. “The people of Maharashtra are suffering because of this. Voters who placed their faith in their elected representatives expected them to raise real issues in the Assembly. Instead, their leader got suspended over senseless statements,” he stated.
Criticizing the relevance of historical references, Pathan questioned the need to bring up past rulers like Humayun, Babar, or Aurangzeb in present-day politics. “What is the use of discussing them now? All of this suggests that Abu Azmi did this to support the BJP,” he alleged.
