New Delhi: The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Delhi is taking proactive steps to enhance campus safety by introducing artificial intelligence (AI) measures. Following the RG Kar incident, AIIMS Director Dr. M Srinivas confirmed that a gap analysis was conducted to identify areas of improvement.

Speaking about the measures, Dr. Srinivas stated, “We have done gap analysis after the RG Kar incident. In particular areas, we have installed artificial intelligence. Once we are very happy that particular artificial intelligence and that particular software are working, we will put this on the entire campus.”

Dr. Srinivas emphasized the importance of ensuring the efficacy of these measures before scaling them up. "It will take some time. We are also doing a lot of experiments on that," he said, hinting at ongoing efforts to test and refine the AI systems.

The measures aim to enhance operational efficiency, safety, and security on the AIIMS campus. While specifics of the AI systems were not disclosed, such technologies often include surveillance, predictive analytics, and real-time monitoring to prevent and manage critical situations.

The RG Kar incident, which prompted this response, has underscored the need for modern, tech-enabled solutions in healthcare institutions. Dr. Srinivas assured that significant progress has been made since the incident, adding, “You can see that a lot of the actions have happened post RG Kar incident here.”
