Thiruvananthapuram, June 13 — Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has expressed deep grief over the Air India AI-171 plane crash in Ahmedabad that claimed 241 lives, calling it one of the most tragic disasters the nation has witnessed in recent memory.

In a statement posted on social media, CM Vijayan said, “Yesterday’s incident was extremely tragic. It is evident from the reports coming in that further details about the incident need to be thoroughly investigated.”

The Chief Minister stressed that, while the investigation is in its early stages, a comprehensive and transparent probe is essential to determine what led to such a catastrophic failure. “Since the probe has just begun and is in its initial stages, this is not the time to make further statements. Nevertheless, this is becoming one of the biggest disasters the nation has witnessed,” he noted.

Calling on the Government of India to act decisively, Vijayan said, “A proper investigation must be conducted to determine the cause of the incident, and adequate measures must be put in place to ensure safety. The Government of India should take the necessary follow-up steps on this.”

The crash of Air India’s Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, operating as flight AI-171, has sparked a wave of mourning across the country. As condolences pour in from state and national leaders, the demand for accountability and improved aviation safeguards continues to grow.
