Hyderabad: A day after the Congress secured victory in the Jubilee Hills Assembly by-elections, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao launched a sharp attack on the ruling party, accusing it of resorting to intimidation and violence. Speaking in Hyderabad on Friday, KTR alleged that the Congress had begun displaying “gundagardi” barely 24 hours after the result was declared.
He claimed that Rakesh Christopher, a BRS leader, was assaulted following the bypoll outcome. “Yesterday, one of our leaders, Rakesh Christopher, was attacked. Today, we have come to meet his family and give them confidence that the BRS will stand by its leaders and workers,” he said, reaffirming his commitment to the party’s cadre.
KTR assured party workers that he would personally back them during what he described as a challenging phase. “I promise every BRS leader, I am here as the party’s Working President to stay and stand by you through thick and thin in every hardship we are going to face in the next two years,” he said.
Despite the setback, KTR insisted that the bypoll outcome reflected BRS’s strong grassroots support, pointing to the party’s 38.1% vote share in the constituency. “Our comeback is going to be stronger than the setback,” he said, adding that the party would intensify its efforts to win back Telangana in the coming years.
