Nagpur, Maharashtra: Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aditya Thackeray has criticized the NDA for allegedly creating a ruckus during protests against what he described as insults to Baba Saheb Ambedkar and the nation by Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Speaking at a press briefing, Thackeray expressed disappointment over the disruption, calling it an attack on the democratic right to protest.
“The ruckus created by the NDA is unfortunate. We were protesting against the insult of Baba Saheb Ambedkar and the insult of this country by Home Minister Amit Shah. What was the point of attacking the INDIA alliance? They could have let us protest,” said Thackeray.
The Shiv Sena (UBT) leader further questioned the government’s approach, asking, “Is it our fault that we are patriots and nationalists?” He accused the NDA of using diversionary tactics to shift public focus from critical issues, including the alleged disrespect to Ambedkar, a key architect of the Indian Constitution and a revered national figure.
“Today the country is angry over the insult of Baba Saheb Ambedkar,” Thackeray asserted, emphasizing the emotional resonance of the issue across India.
The INDIA alliance, of which Shiv Sena (UBT) is a member, has positioned itself as a counterweight to the BJP-led NDA, frequently raising questions on governance and policy matters. Thackeray’s remarks underline the growing tensions between the two blocs as they gear up for the upcoming electoral battles.
