Hyderabad: The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has registered an FIR against Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President and former State Minister KT Rama Rao, along with two others, under the Prevention of Corruption Act. The case pertains to alleged financial irregularities in the arrangements for the Formula-E racing event held in the state.
According to sources, the FIR was filed following a preliminary investigation into allegations of mismanagement and misuse of public funds linked to the high-profile event. The complaint alleges discrepancies in procurement processes and overinflated costs, raising concerns over the transparency of the financial dealings.
KT Rama Rao, a prominent figure in Telangana politics and a key member of the ruling BRS, has not yet commented on the allegations. The ACB, meanwhile, has stated that further investigation will delve deeper into the financial transactions and the involvement of all parties named in the FIR.
The Formula-E racing event, aimed at boosting Telangana’s global profile and promoting electric mobility, was widely publicized as a major achievement for the state. However, the allegations have cast a shadow over its execution, with opposition parties calling for accountability and transparency.
The development comes amid increasing political scrutiny in Telangana as the state gears up for assembly elections. The case is expected to have significant political repercussions, with rivals of the BRS likely to use it as ammunition in the upcoming polls.
