Mumbai, Maharashtra: Samajwadi Party leader Abu Azmi expressed gratitude to the voters of Mankhurd Shivaji Nagar after securing a decisive victory in the Assembly constituency. Azmi criticized attempts to spread false narratives during the campaign but lauded the electorate for their trust and support.
"I am very happy, and the victory would have been with a margin of 35,000 votes, but to cut the votes, a lot of rumors and narratives were spread that there is a lot of drugs and crime in the area," Azmi remarked, addressing the challenges faced during his campaign.
He also took a swipe at rival NCP leader Nawab Malik, asserting that the voters had decisively rejected him. "People rejected NCP leader Nawab Malik," he said.
Azmi concluded by thanking the public for standing by him. "I thank the public for bestowing their trust in me," he stated, promising to work for the development and betterment of the constituency.
The victory marks a significant milestone for the Samajwadi Party in the region, reflecting the electorate's confidence in Azmi’s leadership amid a contentious political landscape.
