By A Staff Reporter — Samajwadi Party leader Abu Azmi has expressed frustration over the lack of a finalized seat-sharing arrangement with the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) coalition, which includes the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Congress, and Shiv Sena (UBT). Addressing the ongoing discussions, Azmi said, "I am asking for more seats... but nothing has happened so far."
According to Azmi, NCP leader Sharad Pawar mentioned that "Congress people keep running to Delhi" for approvals, with a decision expected by tomorrow. Azmi emphasized his desire for a swift resolution, especially given the importance of minority representation and the need for candidates who uphold the values of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and Mahatma Gandhi. "Minorities and people who believe in Dr. BR Ambedkar, Gandhi ji will never vote for BJP," he added.
Clarifying his position, Azmi noted that he has no intention of waiting indefinitely. "I am not a beggar, I am a free man," he remarked, warning that if the seat-sharing terms are not resolved by tomorrow, he has his own candidates ready to contest independently.
With the Maharashtra elections approaching, Azmi’s comments underscore potential tensions within the MVA alliance, as parties seek clarity on candidate placement across constituencies. His statement suggests a strategic plan to secure representation for the Samajwadi Party, signaling his readiness to proceed with independent candidates if necessary.
