Mumbai: In the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack, Samajwadi Party leader Abu Asim Azmi has made a strong statement condemning terrorism while simultaneously voicing concern over the alleged targeting of Muslims in its aftermath.
Addressing the media, Azmi emphasized the collective outrage of the Indian public against terrorism and the widespread appreciation for the Indian Armed Forces. “The 140 crore countrymen are against terrorism and have hailed the Indian Armed Forces,” he said, underscoring national unity in the face of terror threats.

However, Azmi pointed out what he described as a troubling trend of Muslims being unfairly targeted. “There have been over 200 cases where Muslims were targeted,” he claimed, citing the example of Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, a Muslim officer in the Indian Army, who he alleges has faced discrimination.
Despite these concerns, Azmi stressed that the Muslim community, particularly in Kashmir, has shown strong support for the Indian government. “Kashmiri Muslims have openly supported the government,” he noted, arguing that painting the entire community with a broad brush does a disservice to the spirit of unity.
