New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has sharply criticized the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) amid allegations by Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav that his name has been omitted from the voter list. Reacting to the controversy, AAP’s Delhi chief Saurabh Bhardwaj accused the CEC of displaying political partisanship and advised him to reflect on the legacy of former Chief Election Commissioner TN Seshan.

“The Chief Election Commissioner is making statements as if he were the president of some BJP cell,” Bhardwaj remarked, suggesting that the CEC's conduct appears biased in favor of the ruling party at the Centre. He further added, “The Chief Election Commissioner should put up a picture of TN Seshan in his office and just look at it morning and evening. Then I think there will be some purification of his thoughts.”

Bhardwaj’s comments came after Tejashwi Yadav publicly claimed that his name was missing from the electoral rolls, raising questions about the integrity of the voter registration process. Opposition parties, including AAP, have frequently alleged that electoral roll manipulations are being used to influence voter participation, particularly targeting opposition leaders and supporters.

The AAP leader’s reference to TN Seshan, who is widely credited with electoral reforms and fiercely upholding the Election Commission’s independence during his tenure, was intended to highlight the need for neutrality and integrity in the Election Commission’s functioning.
