Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate from Shakur Basti, Satyendar Jain, has underscored his party's transparency and decisiveness in candidate selection, while rejecting caste and religious considerations in their process. Jain, speaking after the release of AAP’s candidate list, stated, "It is our track record that we release the candidates' list early. There is no ambiguity in our party. We are clear... Other parties have to see politics too... We don't have to do any caste or religious equation."
Jain contrasted AAP’s approach with that of other political parties, suggesting that AAP focuses on merit rather than electoral calculations based on caste or religion. This marks a significant stance as the Delhi Vidhan Sabha elections approach, with political parties vying for diverse voter bases.
On Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri’s recent remarks about Rohingyas in Delhi, Jain clarified AAP’s position and pointed fingers at the central government for their presence. "The Rohingyas come from Bangladesh. So how did they enter the nation and come to Delhi? It is their (central government's) job to rehabilitate them. Either the Ministry of External Affairs or the Ministry of Home are involved in this. AAP is not involved here," Jain stated.
The comment came in response to a tweet by Union Minister Puri alleging AAP's involvement in accommodating Rohingyas in Delhi. Jain’s rebuttal shifts the spotlight back onto the Centre’s responsibilities regarding border control and refugee rehabilitation.
As the political discourse intensifies ahead of the elections, AAP’s focus on governance and its critiques of the Centre’s policies continue to be central themes of its campaign.
