Amritsar: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Sanjay Singh on Friday visited flood-affected areas in Amritsar, where he met local residents and assessed the damage caused by rising waters. Singh described the situation as severe, with many families forced to take shelter on the terraces of their homes as floodwaters entered residential and agricultural areas.

Speaking to reporters during the visit, Singh said, “There is a flood-like situation everywhere. People are forced to live on terraces of their houses. Crops have been damaged, and animals have suffered. The Punjab government is continuously working to help people in every way. We request the central government to grant the requested package for Punjab.”

According to Singh, extensive losses have been reported to farmlands, standing crops, and livestock, creating additional hardships for already distressed communities. Relief work, including the provision of food, water, and medical supplies, is being carried out by state agencies and volunteers.
