New Delhi: Tensions flared during the general house meeting of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) on Wednesday, as members of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) raised slogans against the BJP-led administration over the rising pollution levels in the national capital.
Leader of Opposition in the MCD and AAP leader Ankush Narang launched a scathing attack on the corporation, alleging that Delhi’s environmental and civic crisis reflects “incompetence and neglect” by those in power. “The pollution level is increasing day by day... The AQI level has reached 700... Today, Delhi has a very incompetent government,” Narang said during the session.
He accused the ruling BJP of failing to deliver on its promises. “Before coming to power, they made big promises... But all the promises have turned out to be hollow... Water sprinklers aren't working,” he stated, slamming the corporation’s poor response to both air pollution and monsoon-related waterlogging.
Calling the BJP’s administration a “four-engine government” that has “drowned Delhi in rain and waterlogging,” Narang demanded accountability at the highest level. “A mayor who can't clean his own area, who can't protect his area from waterlogging — how can he fix Delhi? He should resign. CM Rekha Gupta should resign,” he asserted.
