Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal has voiced strong criticism regarding Atishi’s upcoming role as Chief Minister of Delhi, calling it an "extremely unfortunate day" for the city. In a recent statement, Maliwal highlighted Atishi's family history, alleging their involvement in efforts to save terrorist Afzal Guru from the death penalty.
Maliwal pointed out that Atishi’s parents had submitted multiple mercy petitions to the President, claiming Guru’s innocence and suggesting he was a victim of political conspiracy. “How wrong is this?” she questioned, expressing concern over Atishi's appointment.
She labeled Atishi as a "dummy CM," implying that her leadership may be ineffective and raising alarm about the implications for Delhi's security. “This matter is directly linked to the security of the country as well as Delhi,” Maliwal stated.
Maliwal’s remarks reflect ongoing tensions within the political landscape of Delhi, as the AAP prepares for significant leadership changes. She concluded her statement with a plea, "God save the people of Delhi from such a CM," underscoring her apprehensions regarding Atishi's governance and its potential impact on public safety.
As Delhi anticipates this political shift, Maliwal's comments may resonate with constituents concerned about the security and governance of the capital.
