Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Sanjay Singh raised concerns over voter roll management in Bihar, pointing to the recent deletion of 22 lakh names identified as deceased over the last two decades.
Singh referred to figures shared by the Election Commission, which stated that the deletions were part of a large-scale correction process aimed at updating electoral records. He argued that the presence of deceased voters’ names in the rolls for nearly 20 years reflected a serious lapse in maintaining the accuracy of the electoral register.
The MP said that such irregularities raised questions about the credibility of previous elections conducted on the basis of these lists. He further alleged that political actors could misuse outdated rolls and stressed the need for greater transparency and accountability in voter list management.
