Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Delhi unit chief Saurabh Bharadwaj on Tuesday raised questions over the persistent issue of waterlogging in the capital, linking it to observations recently made by the Delhi High Court.
Addressing the media, Bharadwaj said the court’s remarks were a serious reflection on what he termed the “four-engine government” in Delhi, referring to the combined role of the Union government, the city government, civic bodies, and other agencies. He pointed out that the Chief Minister had earlier assured citizens that all necessary planning had been completed to prevent waterlogging and that tenders worth crores had been issued for desilting work.
Bharadwaj questioned why waterlogging continued despite these measures and alleged possible irregularities in the implementation of desilting projects. Referring to High Court instructions, he asked why the government had not yet conducted a third-party audit of desilting contracts. He suggested that the delay indicated collusion with contractors and called for accountability from the authorities concerned.
