Delhi | The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) launched a sharp attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday over the worsening air quality in the national capital. AAP spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar accused the BJP-led “four-engine government” of failing to take effective action against pollution, alleging that pollution levels have risen fourfold under its watch.
“The four-engine government of the BJP has increased the pollution of Delhi by four times. BJP should answer what short-term and long-term measures were taken by the BJP before and after Diwali to control pollution,” Kakkar said during a press briefing.
She further questioned whether the police ensured the implementation of Supreme Court guidelines regarding pollution control and firecracker restrictions during Diwali celebrations.
Comparing the BJP’s record with that of the Delhi government under Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Kakkar said, “Every person in Delhi remembers the Arvind Kejriwal-led government, which reduced pollution in Delhi to a large extent. BJP has nothing to say except excuses.”
