By a staff reporter: 18 hardcore naxalites were killed in an encounter in Kanker, Chhattisgarh. In a joint operation, BSF and the district reserve guard of Chhattisgarh police were acting on a tip-off. Surrounded by the naxalites in the dense forest of Kanker.

The encounter went on for three hours, during which 18 naxalites were killed. A BSF inspector and three DRG personnel were injured. BSF recovered AK-47 rifles, military-grade arms, and ammunition. The director general of BSF, Nitin Agarwal, confirmed the encounter and congratulated his forces. "The BSF and DRG are currently combing the forest in search of more naxalites. A massive hunt is on to look out for senior leaders and commanders of naxalites," said Agarwal.
