BY A STAFF REPORTER: Jesus Christ is believed to have been born in Bethlehem, Israel. His parents are credited to Joseph and Mary respectively. They could not find lodging in any of the inns in Jerusalem. So they just got a stable to live in and that's where Jesus was born.

It is known that he was born 10 kilometers south of Jerusalem. There is said to have been a church on the site, which was destroyed by fire in the sixth century. But some of his mosaic remains. But according to UNESCO, the site contains Latin, Greek Orthodox, Franciscan and Armenian churches and convents, as well as bell towers, terraced gardens and pilgrimage routes.

The Pilgrimage Route is the eastern part of the established route from Jerusalem to the Church. Every year at Christmas, The Route is remembered as the path that Joseph and Mary took on their journey to Bethlehem. According to the Gregorian calendar, most Christians celebrate Christmas on December 25. However, some Eastern Christian churches observe Christmas on December 25 in the old Julian calendar, which corresponds to January 7 in the Gregorian calendar.
