Kerala: Youth Congress workers staged a protest in Kochi demanding the resignation of Malayalam actor and CPI(M) MLA M Mukesh. The protest was sparked by allegations made by a female actor, who claimed that Mukesh had sexually assaulted her years ago. The allegations have reignited a debate on accountability and justice within the political and entertainment sectors in Kerala.
The protest, which took place in the heart of Kochi, saw Youth Congress members holding placards and chanting slogans against Mukesh, calling for immediate action and his resignation from the legislative assembly. The demonstrators expressed their solidarity with the alleged victim, emphasizing the need for a thorough investigation into the accusations.
However, the protest was met with a swift response from the police. The authorities detained several of the protesters, leading to a tense situation in the area. Despite the police action, the Youth Congress has vowed to continue their agitation until Mukesh steps down from his position.
The incident has added fuel to the ongoing discussions about sexual harassment and misconduct allegations against public figures, putting pressure on political parties to address the concerns of the public.
