BY A STAFF REPORTER: In a controversial statement, Samajwadi MP Syed Tufail Hasan on Tuesday asserted that Uttarakhand's Uniform Civil Code 2024 bill will not be followed if it is against the principles of the Quran.
He further stated that the people are now dismayed with the government polarising the vote bank based on religion. "For around 1400 years, we have been providing our daughters some share in ancestral property. However, the percentage of shares is different. If a law is made against this then we are not going to follow it" He added.
S.T. Hasan represents the Moradabad seat in Lok Sabha. Moreover, the Uttarakhand Cabinet cleared the UCC draft report on 4th February under the leadership of CM Pushkar Singh Dhami.
