BY A STAFF REPORTER: In a significant move, the West Bengal Police Detained former IPS and BJP leader Bharati Ghosh after a scuffle broke out between the two in New Town, Kolkata on 7th March, Thursday.

Bharati Ghosh got into a scuffle with West Bengal Police personnel and was subsequently detained by the West Bengal Police. The scuffle broke out after the West Bengal Police stopped a BJP delegation of women members led by BJP MP Locket Chatterjee, MLA Agnimitra Paul, and Bharati Ghosh in New Town. Moreover, the delegation was headed towards unrest-hit Sandeshkhali.

A village located in North 24 Parganas, West Bengal, Sandeshkhali is witnessing significant clashes and violence following allegations of systematic sexual exploitations and land-grabbing committed by TMC leaders, Shahjahan Sheikh, Shibu Hazara and Uttam Sardar. Shahjahan Sheikh remained absconding since 5th January after an ED team was attacked by a large mob while conducting raids at Shahjahan's residence.
