BY A STAFF REPORTER: In a significant move, West Bengal DGP Rajeev Kumar arrived in unrest-hit Sandeshkhali, North 24 Parganas on 21st February, Wednesday.
He arrived on a ferry in Sandeshkhali. Moreover, NCW Chairperson Rekha Sharma met with DGP Rajeev Kumar on 20th February during her visit to West Bengal to investigate the Sandeshkhali incident. Furthermore, Sharma alleged that DGP Rajeev Kumar is pressurized. She further stated that DGP Rajeev Kumar refused to arrest TMC leader Shahjahan Sheikh, citing a lack of evidence and claiming that the Sheikh is ED's responsibility.
A village located in North 24 Parganas, West Bengal, Sandeshkali is witnessing significant clashes and violence following allegations of systematic sexual exploitations and land-grabbing committed by TMC leaders, Shahjahan Sheikh, Shibu Hazara and Uttam Sardar. While others have been arrested, Shahjahan Sheikh remains absconding.
