Three terrorists were killed during an infiltration attempt in Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara district, a senior army official reported. The operation, which involved the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and the Border Security Force (BSF), took place near the Line of Control in the areas of Tangdhar and Machhal on August 28.
"We were receiving information for the last several days that terrorists would try to infiltrate from across the Line of Control," the official said. Based on intelligence and confirmation from the Jammu and Kashmir Police, security forces laid ambushes in the suspected infiltration areas.
The encounter began around 8 p.m. in the Machhal area when terrorists attempted to cross into Indian territory. Another encounter started at approximately 9 p.m. in Tangdhar. During these operations, two terrorists were killed in Machhal and one in Tangdhar. Additionally, reports indicate that one terrorist was severely injured in Tangdhar.
The operations were conducted under challenging conditions, including difficult terrain and adverse weather. The senior official praised the efforts of all security forces involved, stating, "I congratulate all the security forces for this success."
