Mumbai: Three people have lost their lives and more than 120 others were evacuated in Maharashtra over the past 24 hours due to heavy rainfall, the State Disaster Management Department said on Tuesday.
The incessant rains have affected multiple districts, causing waterlogging, disruption of road traffic, and localized flooding in low-lying areas. Authorities have been closely monitoring the situation and carrying out rescue and relief operations where necessary.
Evacuees were shifted to safer locations, including community halls and temporary shelters, to prevent further casualties. Officials have urged residents in vulnerable areas to remain indoors and avoid traveling unless essential.
The State Disaster Management Department has deployed teams for continuous surveillance and has advised district administrations to remain alert. Weather forecasts indicate that rainfall is likely to continue in several parts of the state over the next few days, prompting authorities to maintain readiness for emergency response.
