Activist Sonam Wangchuk has spoken out following violent incidents during a protest in Ladakh, expressing disappointment at how quickly the peaceful demonstration was disrupted. In a statement on social media, Wangchuk highlighted concerns over the role of local political parties in managing youth engagement during protests.
“The violence overpowered our peaceful protest, just in one day, it looks like failing. The political parties here are incompetent, they don't have the capability to give direction to youths. People are angered,” he said.
Wangchuk’s remarks suggest frustration not only at the outbreak of violence but also at what he perceives as a lack of political guidance in channeling public sentiment constructively. The activist has been vocal about regional and social issues in Ladakh, often calling for greater civic engagement and responsible leadership.
