Tapas Roy accused TMC MP Sudip Banerjee of being involved in the ED raid conducted at Roy's flat on 12th January. He cited various other reasons for his resignation including Sandeshkhali, scams, and insults
BY A STAFF REPORTER: Shortly after resigning, former minister and TMC MLA Tapas Roy on Monday cited reasons for resignation including Sandeshkhali, various scams, and an ED raid.
Tapas Roy stated that there are numerous reasons accounting for his resignation. Roy further laid emphasis on the ED raid matter which occurred on 12th January when the Enforcement Directorate raided Roy's flat. Roy accused TMC MP Sudip Banerjee of sending the ED team to his house, claiming that Banerjee was afraid and jealous of him. He stressed that the BJP was not involved in the raid. Moreover, Roy shared that nobody from the party came forward to deliver a statement or made an effort to talk with his family. Roy expressed significant discontent with the incident.

Earlier today, veteran TMC MLA and former state minister Tapas Roy tendered his resignation from the post and the party over alleged ill-treatment and neglect. West Bengal LoP Suvendu Adhikari also welcomed Roy's decision.
