New Delhi: Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, has addressed a letter to External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar, requesting immediate intervention in the arrest of 37 Tamil fishermen by Sri Lankan authorities. The incident, which took place on September 21, 2024, also involved the seizure of their boats.

"I am writing to you regarding the arrest of 37 Tamil fishermen, and the seizure of their boats by Sri Lankan authorities," reads the letter, where Gandhi urged Jaishankar to raise the matter with the Sri Lankan government. Gandhi emphasized the importance of ensuring the early release of the fishermen and their boats.
