PM Modi Conferred With Bhutan's Highest Civilian Award
PM Modi has become the first Indian and first non-Bhutanese to receive the 'The Order of The Druk Gyalpo'. Bhutan's King Jigme Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck conferred the award upon PM Modi in Thimpu.
BY A STAFF REPORTER: In a significant development, Prime Minister Narendra Modi received Bhutan's highest civilian award 'The Order of the Druk Gyalpo' during his two-day visit to Bhutan on March 22, Friday.
Moreover, PM Modi has become the first Indian and first non-Bhutanese to receive the 'The Order of The Druk Gyalpo'. Bhutan's King Jigme Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck conferred the award upon PM Modi in Thimpu.

Since its inception, four eminent personalities have been honored with the award namely Her Majesty Royal Queen Grandmother Ashi Kesang Choden Wangchuck in 2008; His Holiness Je Thrizur Tenzin Dendup (68th Je Khenpo of Bhutan) in 2008, and His Holiness Je Khenpo Trulku Ngawang Jigme Choedra in 2018.
Taking it to his X handle, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that he has received 'The Order of The Druk Gyalpo' and dedicated it to 140 crore Indians.
