Odisha: Six Members of Jatra Party die in Mayurbhanj's Truck Accident

In a tragic incident, six people lost their lives in a truck accident in Odisha's Mayurbhanj district on Wednesday 24th January around 10:30 AM.

BY A STAFF REPORTER: In a tragic incident, six people lost their lives in a truck accident in Odisha's Mayurbhanj district on Wednesday 24th January around 10:30 AM. 

The truck was carrying members of the Jatra Party. Apart from that, nine people were severely injured in the accident. As per reports, the truck overturned at Dharsuni Ghat on National Highway-49. Furthermore, the injured are being treated at Baripada's PRM Medical College and Hospital. Odisha's Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has declared ex-gratia of Rs. three Lakh for the kin of the deceased members

Jatra party, popular in West Bengal and Odisha, is a form of traditional folk theatre which comprises dramatic performances, music, and dance. Performed on Open-air stages, Jatra performances are famous as highly melodramatic and exaggerated in style.
