Nirmala Sitharaman To Present J&K Budget In The Lok Sabha

BY A STAFF REPORTER: In a recent development, Union Minister of Finance Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Jammu And Kashmir budget for the session 2024-25 in the Lok Sabha on 5th February, Monday. 

Under the Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Management Act 2006, Sitharaman will lay statements of the estimated receipts and expenditures for the 2024-25 session of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir (with legislature).

The Jammu and Kashmir Fiscal Responsibility Act 2006 outlines the Government's obligation to maintain fiscal stability and prudence through gradual increases in revenue surplus, decreases in fiscal deficit, and consistent, sustainable debt management concerning fiscal sustainability, increased openness in government fiscal operations, the medium-term framework for conducting fiscal policy, and matters incidental or related thereto.
